Child Care Aware Benefits

What is the Military Fee Assistance Program?

The military fee assistance program, administered by Child Care Aware® of America, serves active duty and deployed Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps families. Fee assistance is provided in the form of monthly payments to the family’s child care provider in order to offset the higher cost of off-base care by paying a portion of the family’s child care costs. The amount of fee assistance provided to each family is unique and based on a variety of factors, including geographic location, total family income, and the rate that the family is charged for child care.

Step One: Determine Your Eligibility

  • Must be state licensed

  • Must meet eligibility criteria outlined by the military branches and the Department of Defense

  • Must have a state licensing inspection in the last 12 months free of disqualifying incidents

  • Child care providers serving Navy and Air Force children are required to have an Advanced FBI Fingerprint Check and State Child Abuse and Neglect Registry check

Step Two: Qualify for a Program

  • Operation Military Child Care (OMCC) – state licensed, serves deployed service members
